The North Dallas High boys and girls basketball teams competed in the 76th annual DISD/Coca-Cola’s Basketball Tournament Monday through Wednesday at various gyms in Dallas.

The Lady Bulldogs varsity team faced its toughest opponent of the season in  Lincoln, who came away with a 53-3 opening-round win Monday at Cobb Field House. Ranked No. 5 in Class 4A, Lincoln led 25-0 after the first quarter, and 37-2 at halftime. Sharae Campbell scored 2 points and Myajia English had 1 point in the loss.

The Bulldogs boys varstiy team fell to Red Oak 77-56 in its opening game Monday at Forester Field House. Darius Watts scored 22 points and Paul Gandara had 9 points to lead the Bulldogs. In its second-round game,  the Bulldogs fell to Episcopal School of Dallas 46-39. Watts had 19 points and Kobe Wrice had 14 points.

The Lady Bulldogs have only two seniors on the varsity team in Campbell and English, and start three freshmen, including Ashley Poole and Jakolby Flemings. The girls are 0-2 in District 11-5A play after a 56-27 loss to Woodrow Wilson on Dec. 18 at Cobb.

Entering the tournament, the boys varsity (3-9) were coming off a 58-42 loss to Carrollton Creekview in the District 11-5A opener Dec. 22 at Creekview High School. The Bulldogs led 17-14 early in the second quarter before Creekview rallied to pull away. Raziel Scott led ND with 14 points, followed by Wrice with 13 and Christian Armstrong with 10.
