Multiple Teams · Kobe’s big night: 45 points and Bulldog victory

North Dallas tried to erase years of being on the low end of lopsided scores in one night.
Kobe Bryant Wrice scored 45 points and Darius Watts added 31 points as the Bulldogs rolled over Bryan Adams 98-55 in a District 11-5A game Wednesday night at Cobb Field House.
Wrice, a 6-5 forward, has scored 81 points in past two games. He scored 36 points in a 92-73 loss to Newman Smith on Jan. 29.
“I just let the game come to me,” Wrice said. “I’m glad my teammates trust me with the ball and my coach let’s me dominate my opponents. My performance came from a big proportion of feeding off the energy of my teammates and the crowd.”
Coach Brett Cole said he has been moving to an uptempo style. He said the team plays that way in practice, and was able to do that in a game.
“It’s encouraging to see that,” Cole said of the uptempo style. “We were staying aggressive, and the ball was bouncing our way.”
Cole said Wrice took advantage of a mismatch at his position. He also had 12 to 18 rebounds.
“He found a good rhythm,” Cole said.
The Bulldogs led 19-8 after the first quarter and 49-24 at halftime. Leading 65-40 after three quarters, North Dallas scored 33 points in the fouth quarter to run away with the victory.
Five players scored for the Bulldogs. Raziel Scott added 10 points, and Paul Gandara and Larry Cooper each scored six points.
The Bulldogs (8-13) snapped a four-game losing streak and are now 4-6 in district play.
North Dallas plays next at Conrad at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
