North Dallas High held Conrad scoreless for the last 5 minutes of the third quarter en route to a 55-41 victory in District 11-5A at Conrad High School.
The Bulldogs went on a 10-0 run in the third quarter to take control of the game. Leading 30-29, Darius Watts hit a 3-pointer from the corner, then Edwin White hit a free throw to give ND a 34-29 lead. A missed Conrad shot led to an ND fast break and a monster dunk by Kobe Wrice, bringing the crowd to its feet. White added a layup and two free throws as ND took a 40-29 lead into the fourth quarter.
Wrice led the Bulldogs with 27 points, hitting 13 of 16 free throws. Wrice scored 14 points in the first half as ND led 25-21 at halftime. Raziel Scott added 10 points, followed by White and Watts with 8 points each. Paul Gandara had 2 points.
ND coach Brett Cole said there’s a sense of urgency if the Bulldogs hope to make the playoffs this season.
“They understand there’s no tomorrow,” he said. “We have to win out.”
The Bulldogs (9-13 overall, 5-6 in District 11-5A) are in fifth place and trail fourth-place Hillcrest (9-12, 7-4). ND’s next game is against TJ at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cobb Field House.
