The North Dallas Bulldog Support League, an ND alumni group focusing on academics, created a program to raise funds for academic programs at North Dallas.
The idea started when a DISD school board member suggested, “Why don’t you sell the school?”
Well, the NDBSL isn’t really selling the school, but the thought of purchasing a nameplate on a teacher’s desk or chair or on a bookshelf or above a classroom came to mind.
Now, alumni have “bought” more than 40 items and contributed more than $5,000 to the NDBSL.
U.S. Judge Barefoot Sanders’ sister bought a nameplate that is on a door entering the auditorium. A group of classmates bought a plaque that hangs in the boys gym in memory of a 1964 alum Larry Blaser.
You can also find plaques and brass plates on teacher’s desks, library shelves, the principal’s office, her secretary’s desk, and the band hall.
The prices include:
Teacher’s chair $50
Teacher’s desk $250
All monies raised go back to the high school to support the teachers and faculty’s academic endeavors.
