Playing in front of the biggest crowd of the season — and Homecoming, too – North Dallas’ passing game hit on all cylinders while the defense put the clamps on Sunset in a 28-0 District 12-5A game at Pleasant Grove Stadium.
The Bulldogs’ first win saw quarterback Kavonn Price threw for 208 yards and two touchdowns, and added 56 yards and one touchdown on the ground. wide receiver Tykedreaus Elder scored on a 55-yard reception and a 15-yard run.
“It was step 1, we got a win,” North Dallas Coach Fred Johnson said afterward. “The kids played well. Defense first shutout. Excellent, excellent. I will say this, we need to beat three, and we got one. We have a week to heal and get ready for Molina [on Oct. 20].”
The North Dallas defense pitched a shutout. Rusty Huerta had 10 tackles and Clinque Lampkin had seven in leading the defense.
“When you come with zero and leave with zero, I can’t complain,” Johnson said.
Then Price hit Christian Armstrong over the middle and Christian outran two defenders to the end zone for an 8-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Price connected with Tykedreaus on a 55-yard scoring play. Jesus Zambrano added the extra point for a 15-0 North Dallas lead.
In the fourth quarter, Price took off on a 27-yard scoring run, twisting and turning his way through the Sunset defense. Zambrano’s extra point gave ND a 22-0 lead. Tykedreaus scored the final touchdown on a 15-yard run.
