North Dallas’ Lady Bulldogs will face South Oak Cliff at 8 p.m. Monday at Ellis Davis Fieldhouse in the bi-district round of the UIL girls basketball playoffs.
The Lady Bulldogs are 13-14 overall, and finished 6-6 and in fourth place this season in District 12-5A. North Dallas is led in scoring by post player SaNiya Lampkin along with guards Jakolby Flemings and Terri Jeffery. Senior Lela Brooks and Na’Keisha Alridge handle the rebounding.
South Oak Cliff is the top team in District 11-5A with a 26-6 record overall and 12-0 in district play.
The only common opponent has been Kimball, which the Lady Bulldogs split with in two meetings this season.
“SOC is very aggressive defensively and will be the most athletic team we have faced all year,” said North Dallas girls coach Paul Strapkovic, who is in his first season as the girls coach. “We finished fourth so it is what it is, and nothing we can do about it but play the game. It will take a collective effort by all participants, and we must handle their pressure, and we need to take advantage of any turnovers we create.
“I am proud of the players for making the playoffs for the second consecutive year. We did it short-handed the whole year.”
