Girls Varsity Soccer · North Dallas student profile: Diana Romero, varsity soccer player

One of the outstanding student-athletes on the Lady Bulldogs soccer team is senior Diana Romero.

Diana, who was first team all-district in volleyball this past season, plays midfield and defense for North Dallas. She also scored against Molina earlier this season.

The Lady Bulldogs play at Seagoville at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in a District 12-5A game, followed by Adamson at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Franklin Field. The junior varsity games are at 6 p.m.

Diana  took a few minutes to answer some questions about herself:

How many years have you been playing soccer, and do you play club soccer? I’ve been playing for about six years and, no, I do not play club soccer

What do you like most about soccer, compared to other sports (cross country, volleyball) that you play?

I like to see how well each girl handles the ball with their feet. I think it takes a lot of practice to obtain good control of the ball.

What were your expectations for the North Dallas girls soccer team this season?

I think we can make it to the playoffs if we all try hard enough.

How is your season going so far?

It’s going well.

Diana Romero (4) takes a pass from teammate Silvia Andrade (6) during an earlier game against Berkner.

What was your best game so far, or the team’s best game? and why?

Our game against Adamson, because we played very good possession and we were all focused and we tried really hard.

How do you like the team’s chances of making the playoffs?

We have a pretty good chance of making it to the playoffs

How do you keep your teammates motivated?

I encourage them to keep trying, even when they make a mistake. I tell them that it’s okay and to shake it off.

The games seem to be getting physical — Is that unusual or just part of the game?

I think it’s part of the game. Soccer is a very physical sport and sometimes we forget it’s just a game and we make it more of a who’s stronger thing.

What was the funniest moment for you this season?

The game against Bryan Adams, I tried kicking the ball but missed and fell.
