Bulldogs News · Congratulations, North Dallas High School graduates!

Senior Steven Do begins the graduation celebration on Saturday.

After the speeches were done, North Dallas Principal Katherine Eska addressed the 2018 Senior Class on Saturday at Loos Field House.

“Will the Class of 2018 of North Dallas High School please stand?” she said to the 209 students in front of her. And the cheering began throughout the arena.

“Congratulations. I hereby declare you 2018 graduates of North Dallas High School,” she continued. “Please turn your tassle to the right.”

The school song followed but the celebration had already started.  That moment had arrived. The seniors’ journey from elementary to middle school had reached the point of high school graduates.

North Dallas Senior Class President Leo Campos speaks to the 2018 class.

Senior Class president Leo Campos noted the class achievements in his speech, and Ms. Eska noted that “once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog” in her talk. DISD school board member Dustin Marshall encouraged the class “to begin this new phase of your life with  truth, sense and purpose. You can do it. You can be the one to invent or discover the next incredible thing.”

Valedictorian Helen Garcia reflected on the seniors’ journey to graduation.

“These past four years have been a challenge for all of us,” she said. “As a class, we’ve overcome some of the greatest obstacles to be here, walk across the stage and begin a new chapter in our lives. If I have learned anything from these years in school and if you take just one thing today from my speech today, let it be this: As long as you are being happy and being you, nothing else will be of greater importance.”

North Dallas valedictorian Helen Garcia encouraged her classmates “to live your life to the fullest.”

Helen paid tribute to the teachers and staff at North Dallas for helping her, along with her friends, especially the ones you can call “at 2 in the morning.”

“All those who are here today and all those who are here in spirit, can agree on this simple statement: life is short,” Helen said. “It took me losing a close friend to realize this. It took two even closer friends to show me that truth and happiness is what truly really matters in life. High school has showed me that life is rough and will drag you down. But at the end of the day, as long as we’re true to ourselves and happy, nothing else will matter. As we leave here today, thank those who have helped you, supported you, and even doubted you, and continue to live your life to the fullest. Congratulations, Class of 2018.”
