boys and girls swimming · North Dallas swimmers continue to improve each week

The Bulldogs 200 free relay team of Alex Flores, Christian Orozco, Ricardo Ramirez and Julian Canales.

North Dallas swimmers Alex Flores and Lauren Garcia took first place in their heats of the 50 freestyle Thursday night at Sprague Natatorium.

The Bulldogs’ 200 free relay of Alex Flores, Christian Orozco, Ricardo Ramirez and Julian Canales finished third in their heat and Lauren finished third in the 100 backstroke heat.

“I kinda ate a little bit too early so my stomach kinda hurt,” Lauren said after her race in the 50 free. “But I think I did well. The only thing that matters to me is that the girl next to me, I beat her by a little bit.”

Olivia Akers, competing in her first meet, swam the 50 freestyle.

“It was a lot of things. It was kinda scary but it was kinda fun,” Olivia said after her race. “I was struggling. It was kinda hard to breathe. It was fun.”

The Bulldogs will practice next Tuesday and Wednesday before competing in the district meet on Friday at Loos Natatorium.
