Trinity Washington scored seven of her game-high 11 points in the fourth quarter as the North Dallas Lady Bulldogs pulled away to a 34-22 win over Seagoville in a nondistrict basketball game Wednesday night at Sprague Field House.
Tied 20-20 entering the fourth quarter, the Lady Bulldogs went ahead 25-22 behind two baskets by Keandra Diaz. Then Trinity scored the next six points on two free throws and two baskets to give North Dallas a 31-22 lead. Jedoria Richards closed out the scoring with a free throw and a layup.
The Lady Bulldogs improved their record to 3-1 this season.
“It was a great team win,” Coach Eric Gracia said in an email. “It took us a while to wake up but we applied pressure in the second half and were able to turn them over and keep them from taking good shots. Add that to a sense of urgency and effort and we were able to pull away.”
North Dallas led 4-0 after the first quarter and then trailed 11-10 at halftime. The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 20-11 lead in the third quarter before Seagoville battled back to tie the score at 20-20.
But the Lady Bulldogs regained control in the fourth quarter.
“We’re doing a great job of executing in the special teams and pressure defenses we run,” Gracia said.
North Dallas’ next game is against South Hills High School on Saturday in Fort Worth.
